More Than Words - October Night and NO flowers

Our Main Challenge is based upon a word inspiration and a creative challenge.

Word Inspiration:  NIGHT
Creative Challenge:  NO FLOWERS

My layout is based on the NIGHT where everything is a little strange. I used a photo that I took recently... just as the sun was setting, and the vision of the tree in the foreground represents a menacing silhouette. NO FLOWERS but I have added a poem I wrote about night time through to dawn.

HELPFUL TIPS FOR THE CHALLENGE

We want to know what you get up to when the sun goes down!  Do you go out partying at NIGHT, gaze at the stars, go to concerts or maybe go camping? Or if you like being tucked up at home with wine and Netflix, then we want to hear about that too! We need to see in your project how our word inspired you.  If it isn't obvious in your work, then please explain it in your post.

Many flowers close their petals at night, so we want to see NO FLOWERS on your project. Is this easy or difficult for you?

I created the background by useing a graphite texure paste to darkness but also grittiness. the splash of 'setting sun' is created by distress embossing powders. Finally the hint of dark blue is LIndy Stamp Gang spray in Whale Watch Blue.

Word Inspiration - BOOKS

Creative Challenge - BOOK PAPER

HELPFUL TIPS FOR THE CHALLENGE

Many of us love BOOKS – do you have a favourite? Does a grandparent read to your child? Is your child getting books ready for school or are they having a special Book Day? Or maybe you’d love to create a special book just for you. We need to see in your project how our word inspired you. If it isn’t obvious in your work, then please explain it in your post.

Of course, we can’t have books without BOOK PAPER! Book paper can be such fun to add to projects and we want to see it somewhere on yours!

MTW August Challenge - Chill out & sketch

Welcome back to another Main Challenge at More Than Words!

It’s holiday time in the northern hemisphere, and we have a fabulous sketch drawn up to inspire you.

HELPFUL TIPS FOR THE CHALLENGE

Is it holiday time where you live or maybe you’re dreaming of that wonderful break you had last year? Or do you CHILL OUT by relaxing with a book or working in the garden? We want to hear about whatever makes you relax. We need to see in your project how our word inspired you. If it isn’t obvious in your work, then please explain it in your post.

To make you relax even more, our very own Heike Bruhn has created a fabulous SKETCH for you to use!

I decided to turn the SKETCH to a different view and created my layout upside down. My husband and I love to take some time away occasionally to CHILL OUT and do some things for ourselves. At the moment in Western Australia we have a closed border, so we are all travelling around our beautiful state and seeing the natural wonders that it has to offer.

I  have used the beautiful Mintay Paper range - Day by Day which was perfect for this layout and challenge.

MTW - July Main Challenge - Monochrome

Our Main Challenge is based on a word inspiration and a creative challenge.

Word Inspiration - GOODBYE
Creative Challenge - MONOCHROMATIC

Saying GOODBYE - sadness or new beginnings?
Share your perspective with us this month!!

My GOODBYE is to the summer months. As we move into the cooler months, I miss the the warmth of sitting outside under our patio having brunch and drinks. My MONOCHROME is the colour of the warmth of summer, the golden hue gives me a wonderful feeling of wellness. As we come out of winter, every day starts to feel warm again, the flowers bloom, there is a wonderful glow in the trees and I start to feel recharged again.

I have used the beautiful 49 and Market Artistry Paper range - Butter.

MTW Hello and Windows/Doors

My inspiration for the word HELLO is a beautiful photo of my sister and her husband leaving the church as Mr & Mrs for the first time. This little chapel had such a beautiful quaint look with cute WINDOWS and DOORS. Mount Tamborine in QLD – beautiful.

Our Main Challenge is based on a word inspiration and a creative challenge.

Word Inspiration - Hello
Creative Challenge - DOORS & WINDOWS

HELPFUL TIPS FOR THE CHALLENGE

Do you greet a friend with a HELLO? Maybe you’d like to welcome a new baby, say hi to a relative or introduce a new pet? Or maybe just a simple Hello title works for you. We need to see in your project how our word inspired you. If it isn’t obvious in your work, then please explain it in your post.

We often welcome friends at our doors and DOORS and WINDOWS can symbolise new opportunities or new directions in our lives. We want to see doors and/or windows on your project!

May - MTW - Funny and Stripes

Word Inspiration - Funny
Creative Challenge - Stripes

HELPFUL TIPS FOR THE CHALLENGE

Where would we be without the FUNNY things in our lives? Laughter is the best medicine and we all enjoy those funny moments. What does the word funny inspire you to create? We need to see in your project how our word inspired you. If it isn’t obvious in your work, then please explain it in your post.
To add to the challenge, we want you to add STRIPES to your project. We don’t mind if they’re bold or soft, wide or narrow, so long as they’re stripey!

My FUNNY moments are pictures of my granddaughter Amelia dressed up in her work gear to go shopping with her dad for hardware. She insists on wearing her 'work gear' just like dad. STRIPES are in the paper, mixed media and embellishments that reflect the stripes on Junior Tradie Hi Vis top.

More Than Words - April - BUGS AND BIRDS

Wow wow wow what a wonderful challenge BUGS AND BIRDS. I love butterflies and think that the gorgeous patterns on the butterflies wings and the colour is so magical. I get so excited when I see one flying around in the garden. I used Lindy Stamp Gang spays and Magicals to develop a rich colour on the background with molding paste and stencils to represent the patterns the wings. Finally using layeirng and paints to develop a multi texture background to build wonderful page. I hope you enjoy.
