More Than Words - July Challenge - Fabrika Decoru

Word Inspiration - DISCOVER
Creative Challenge - OLD STASH

What does the word DISCOVER inspire you to create? You can choose to use the actual word somewhere on your project or simply be inspired by it. Please explain in your blog post how it inspired you if it isn't obvious in your work.

We bet you've got lots of treasures in your OLD STASH waiting to be discovered! Is there a favourite paper that you were saving for a special project or some old rub-ons or even an ancient pair of wavy-edge scissors that you forgot you had? It's time to drag them out and use them! Please tell us which of the products or tools you used that have been sitting in your stash for a while.

My old stash was butchers twine. I had collected alot over the years and had lots of differnt brands, I was going to use on pages and it ended up being in the back of my scrap booking drawers. I have used it by embossing and painted to add to the embellishments.

I received a beautiful box of goodies from Fabrika Decoru to use as  Design Team Member for More than Words. It was filled with papers, embellishments and mixed media items that complimented their range Botany Summer. Their products are listed below.

To create the back ground, I used the wood grain paper and sprinkled Magic Paint on the background and sprayed lightly with water and dried. To add more depth, I added more Forest Moss and held the heat gin closer to create a bubbled effect. I fussy cut the foliage from one the 12x12 pages as well as some of the leaves and flowers from the recut pieces. Lightly stamp all the pieces. Cut strips of paper from the green patterned paper and lay on the main area. I used foam tape to stick down so I had space to put embellishments underneath.

Stencil some of the fern leaves along the bottom of the paper strips.Texture paste the frames and add some Magic Paint - Burnt Umber with a paint brush. Paint the words with Burnt Umber Magic Paint and also a gold paint. Outline with watered down white gesso. Butchers Twine - I embossed with a brown colour and wound into a circle.

Glue the butchers twine, add the frames and glue the embellishments in and around the frames. Add white gesso around edges of foliage, along the frames and flowers. Finish with a splatter of watered down magic paint to add a grungy finish.
