We want to see your dark and mysterious side by using
a BLACK BACKGROUND on your project. Whether your costume
is a Halloween outfit, a wedding dress or a work uniform,
the theme is up to you, but your background must be black!

I love the thoughts evoked by the word COSTUME... the drama, colours, textures and layers which is what I tried to create on my page. I wanted to dress up my simple BLACK BACKGROUND like I would dress up in a costume. I used a black and white photo of a child playing on the beach which I found complemented the dramatic concept of my creation.
I painted the background with clear gesso and stencilled a random black graphite texture paste pattern. Once dry, I stencilled a black gesso pattern over the top of some of the graphite and dried. I sprinkled sapphire blue and charcoal grey embossing power over the main area to add a very light touch of colour that gave the page a bit of depth. Once dry, randomly spread clear glue over the stencilled area to add ragged drips and layers and sprinkled a wonder aqua and gold embossing powder and dried. Tip: this will take awhile to dry with a heat gun so be patient but it will be worth it.
I added all of my wonder Dusty Attic Chipboard to the page which I had painted in a variety of aquas, golds, steampunk copper and teals. to add a grungy look to your chipboard. Make sure you add a fine line of white gesso to the edges to that it gives it texture and depth.
I added sisal sprayed with a golden colour and added my photos. The words were painted in black and edged with white gesso to make them stand out.
Finally, add mini purls in white in and around the layout making sure that you add drips, along the edges of the chipboard and underneath the photos. it need sot be very random and adds a ragged grungy look.
I hope you enjoy and would love to see your thoughts in the comments bar below.
