Dusty Attic February Project

This project mood board featured all of my favourite colours including the opportunity to have a lot of texture and plenty of grungyness. I started with paper that had the same colour tone as the mood board and stamped around the main area that the photos and embellishments would sit. I used 3 different stamps that had a slight textured look to them e.g. a grid, numbered circles. The aim was to add some depth to the page. Using the grid stencil, I randomly pasted making sure that you could still see some of the stamping. Once dry, I flicked a variety of paints on top such as dark blue, denim and added a light Lindy Stamp Gang golden tone to add some lightness and a little bit of sparkle. Once dry, I used a rust paste with  the chicken wire stencil over the mixed media base. Tip: using the rust paste will lead to a slightly less than perfect imprint as it is very wet but it adds to the overall grungy look. Be careful when applying as it can easily work under the stencil pattern. A couple of quick scraps across the stencil work best.

Dusty Attic Chipboard - I cut up the main pieces of chip board so that it could be painted and placed under the photos. I used Denim, faded Denim and also a steampunk copper colour. Using black wool and some tags and embellishments, I added them to the page. Tip: I cut out a main photo mat so that I could work out where the chipboard would sit and then glued them on. Prior to adding the photos, I flicked some more paint so that the chipboard didn't look too perfect against the background. I finished off by sticking on the photos. Tip: as the photos were being glued on top of chipboard, I added some cardboard under some of the photos so that they ended up being the same height. Photos used: I used instant photos however once the photo has developed you can cut them but make sure to leave one edge uncut otherwise the layers of the instant photo will pull apart.

I hope you enjoy my grungy masculine page. For more inspiration, go to the following blog page:

Dusty Attic January Project

This project was all about the richness of GOLD. I started by stenciling randomly over the background in and round where the main photo would be. Using Lindy Stamp Gang magicals - Cotton Candy and Bodacious Blush, Spray - Sunset Pink,  added colour including a golden hue  to the background highlighting the stenciled areas.  Heavy cotton lace was cut and  made to look weathered and stuck to the page, Using Dusty Attic paint  - Sugar Plum and magicals blended to match the background coloured theme. The Mystic frame chipboard was coloured with Colour Blast Paste - leather adding a slightly textured look. The Iron Bar flourish was coloured with Rust Paste and a light rubbing of gold paste over the top. Using Archival Ink - Sepia, random stamping over the background to add a slightly grungy look. Before sticking on to the page, Art Stones (small and large) were stuck to the lace and up to where the main photo would sit. A light Spray of water to help blend in the colour from the page and lace to help blend in the look. Structure medium was used to stiffen cotton gauze and while wet, pulled to create a very loose weave. Once dried, pieces were placed on the the main embellishment area so that once the photo mat was added would just appear. Finally the words were painted with Finnabair Sparks - Butterfly sparks.

I hope you enjoy this project. For more inspiration, go to the following blog:

Dusty Attic 2018 January Mood Board Challenge

Lots of gold inspiration in this mood board and in particular the beautiful detail on the back of the shoes. I loved the flowers and decided to do a canvas featuring flowers, golden touches and key words.  I painted a small rectangular canvas black and laid gauze on the main base to create a textured feature at the bottom and top. Using different Dusty Attic chipboard pieces, I cut them into to random pieces and set them on top of each other to form a raised base. I sprayed with Lindy Stamp Gang sprays and finished with Prima wax along the edge of the canvas and chipboard. I sprayed various different flowers with gold, black and golden pink and set along the chipboard feature. I finished with 2 key works - cherish and adore. To complete the look, I dabbed white gesso on the ends of the flowers and chipboard to lift the colour. I hope you joy my creation.
